Alemaratalyoum

We were lucky enough to attend the opening of the musical 42nd Street in the West End last night and it was a fantastic production that I thoroughly enjoyed. One of our owners here Dr Johnny Hon was the executive producer and he has done a fantastic job. The Duchess of Cambridge was there helping to raise money for the East Anglia Children’s Hospice and other stars such as Morgan Freeman were also in attendance.

It is yet another glorious morning here at HQ. The recent sunshine is doing wonders for the horse’s coats and many are really coming to themselves but it is not what I wanted for the horses that are looking for the soft ground that we normally have at this time of year. Windsor may have to water the bends before their first meeting of the year on Monday and the word soft is starting to disappear from most of the going descriptions throughout the country.

Amlad was third last Saturday. We were a little disappointed he did not win but he was slowly away and had to use energy to gain a forward position. He held every chance approaching the final furlong and just got a little tired in the last two hundred yards. I hope he can improve on this when we next see him. Mulzim was fourth at Chelmsford later on in the evening and I was happy with his seasonal debut. He now qualifies for handicaps and we will look for a race for him in a couple of weeks.

Alemaratalyoum is our only runner today and he steps up to a mile in the 5:45 at Kempton. I think the extra furlong will help him and he has been drawn well in stall three. He does have a lot of weight and it is likely to be a stronger race than his last one but we hope he has improved since and he would look to hold strong claims.  Power Power showed promise in Maidens and with a good five pound claimer on board he could be a danger whilst Al Mansor and Artic Sea have both shown promise in Maidens. Arctic Sea does have to bounce back from two lesser runs but he did show he had ability on his debut in a good Maiden. The rest of the field look like they need to step forward on what they have shown so far but the majority of the field are lightly raced and so improvement is possible.
