Facilities

With such a rich heritage, it’s not surprising that La Grange is reputed to be a ‘lucky’ yard. Certainly, it is a well-positioned base, located more on the Bury Side of Newmarket with renowned conditioning grounds Warren Hill and Long Hill around the corner. The Severals trotting ring is also virtually on La Grange’s door-step. Racecourse Side is also easily accessible, while the fabled Limekilns gallops and Al Bahathri polytrack are both within reach at Bury Road/Norwich Road junction.

Ed has spent considerable time and resources in upgrading the facilities in a yard which has large and airy boxes. There are over 90 in total on the premises with respective barns for fillies, colts and geldings. The tack room gives a sense of the history and tradition within the yard with its elegant wood-panelled internal walls. There is a covered ride on site and within that space are two horse-walkers, which are lit and undercover, and a lunging pit. The ride is where each lot gather to walk and trot ahead of exercise.

Additional facilities include a Water Treadmill, which is a state-of-the-art piece of equipment that assists in the treatment of ankle, shin and knee issues as well as improving horse's fitness levels. There is also a High-Speed treadmill, an innovative and forgiving piece of machinery that allows horses to exercise from walking up to galloping speed.  We have recently installed a Horsepower Plate, which is fantastic for horses recovering form all sorts of injuries.  Vibration therapy seems to reduce pain, improve flexability as well as aiding horses with under-run heels, thin soles and horses with high suspensory injuries and sesamoiditis.
