Amlad

Hello! It has been a quiet few days but we are gearing up for a busy end to the week. I send two runners to Kempton this evening.

The first of those is Amlad in the mile and a half handicap at 7.20. This is a tricky race, as the favourite Buzz beat the subsequent Royal Ascot winner Dash Of Spice on his most recent start. However, we had to choose between this race and the two miler on the same card, which featured similar form lines involving the same horses. As the shorter race cut up somewhat, the decision was made for us. Amlad is a much better horse than he showed when down the field over this course and distance earlier in the month, though he might need a little more help from the handicapper to get his head in front. That said, I do hope to see more encouragement from him this evening.

In the 8.20 we return to the all-weather with Arnarson, after a recent run on turf. He has a tempting turf mark a few pounds below his AW one, but all his best form has come on an artificial surface. He has been placed around Kempton before, but we have top weight of 10-2 and remain five pounds above his highest winning mark. As a result we have enlisted the help of our former apprentice Harry Burns, who claims a valuable seven pounds. Arnarson is a big price this evening, but granted a bit of luck then he ought to run a respectable race.

Best wishes,
Ed.
