Sharaakah
An overcast day here at HQ and the ground at the Rowley Mile is on the soft side of good after some heavy showers overnight. We got close to 10mm here at La Grange but the Rowley Mile only got half of that. There are some interesting Maidens here today and they should provide some pointers for next season.
We run First Quest in the 1m1f Nursery at 4:50pm. The form of his Sandown win is solid with winners coming out of the race and he seems fresh and well after a break. The ground is an unknown as he has not run on softer than good but I hope he can handle it. It looks a competitive race with six out of the eight runners in the field winning last time out.
Sharaakah runs in the concluding One Mile Fillies’ handicap at 5:20. Her best form this season has come on a softer surface and so I am hoping that the overnight rain will be to her liking. She has run well in some competitive races this year and whilst this is not a bad race, it does look easier than the races she has been running in.
