Sanam

After some frustrating results of late, there is nothing like a winner to lift the spirits. From yesterday’s runners, Baasha disappointed at Beverley, and I fear it is back to the drawing board with him.  Dagueneau ran a gallant, if slightly frustrating second. However, he stayed on very well on the stiff climb to the line at Beverley, and this should auger well for his potential as a nice stayer for the future. Then Qaswarah came home a convincing winner in her first handicap at Chepstow.  Although she is a big filly, Qaswarah is well balanced and appeared to handle the undulations of the track very well.  When challenged in the home straight she kept on gamely to the line. I am hoping she will progress well in time and look forward to planning her future campaign.

While the Dante meeting begins at York, the sole runner from La Grange today heads to sunny Yarmouth. I run Sanam in the ‘Norwichinns.com "The Sign Of Excellence" Handicap’ over 1m 2f (3.55).  He disappointed in his maiden runs last year but showed improvement on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton in January.  He stayed on well from the rear to finish 6th beaten 5 ½ lengths in a race that has worked out very well for the grade. Sanam has enjoyed a nice break since his Wolves run and I hope today he can show the benefit of this. Ben Curtis takes the mount on the Lime Street Partnership and Friend owned gelding, and while it is the expected competitive affair, I am hopeful Sanam has a decent EW chance.

Enjoy day one of York!

All the best,

Ed.
