Third lot heading out to the heath

I have arrived back in Newmarket and I am afraid I have left the sunshine back in Dubai. The weather forecast was spot on for once and we have had unrelenting rain since six o’clock this morning, driven sideways by a healthy wind. Spring suddenly seems a million miles away!

We have a lot of early closing entries and scratching deadlines today. Amazing Red has stayed in The Derby at the first scratching stage. Sharaakah has been entered into the 1000 Guineas and she will more than likely go to one of the trials first. The Weatherbys Super Sprint also closes and we have put a colt by the Australian sprinter Foxwedge into the race. We have eleven horses entered into The Weatherbys Hamilton £300,000 2yo Stakes, run in early September at Doncaster.

The 2016 Horses In Training guide arrived yesterday, containing 19,008 horses and 672 trainers. We are lucky in that our numbers are the same as last year and La Grange has been filled with some exciting new young stock. We have 46 two years olds in the yard currently and I would hope to add to this number at the breeze up sales in the near future.
