It has been a very cold start to the day here in Newmarket but temperatures are now above freezing thankfully. When we get weather like this it can knock the horses backwards but it does look to be getting milder next week.

We ran two horses last week, Arnarson ran respectably in third at Kempton and we may step him up to a mile at some stage in the future although not necessarily on his next start. Global Wonder was disappointing but he was disadvantaged by the pace of the race and could never get involved.

Global Angel runs at Chelmsford in the 6:30 this evening in what looks to be a typically wide open 0-60 handicap. He was very disappointing last time at Southwell where he appeared to hate the fibresand and so we have gone back to Chelmsford where he ran respectably on handicap debut. Unfortunately he has been drawn out wide in stall nine which is not helpful. We have switched the headgear to cheekpieces for a change and if he repeated his effort on handicap debut he would not be too far away but given his most recent effort it is hard to be confident. Beloved Knight ran well on handicap debut and looks as if he will be suited by this step up in trip, if he does improve for the extra two furlongs then he will be hard to beat. Dark Freedom is more exposed but ran well last time and shaped as if this ten furlong trip would not be beyond him. Seasearch has shown nothing so far but his half-sister needed a trip and he may improve for ten furlongs although he might need further in time. Ahfad ran badly last time but a repeat of his penultimate run would see him have claims.
