It was fantastic to have a winner at Glorious Goodwood yesterday and it was unique that we had the first and second with the two half-sisters Sagaciously and Sagely. I headed back to Newmarket last night and after watching all the horses out at exercise I have gone back down to Goodwood this afternoon. We had a very small amount of rain yesterday at both HQ and Goodwood but the ground remains on the fast side at both venues.

Sagaciously broke well yesterday, she travelled well and got a beautiful split, when it looked like she would be challenged our daughter of Lawman found more to win well. This was a career best performance and these are her optimum conditions, if a race panned out this well at Listed level I do feel she is very capable of gaining some black type. Sagely ran a very good race in second, she did not get the split through and had to come around the field, she kept on for second but once she got to the hindquarters of her sister, she did not have any more to give, I hope we can also pick up some black type with her. Global Applause got no cover from his draw in stall one and was very free in the early stages of the race, having said that the winner was very impressive and broke the track record so whilst I think he is better than what he showed, the winner would have been hard to beat if everything had gone to plan. The Lacemaker ran with promise in what was likely to be a good maiden but I think she will benefit from a step up to seven furlongs.

Crystal Dome was very green on debut at Sandown both before and during the race. I am sure there will be better to come from him in time. We dropped Gloryette back in trip but she did not find anything having got a good early position. Booshbash ran respectably at Leicester but it looked a nice maiden beforehand and she will find things easier in the future when she runs in Nursery company.

We only have the one runner today at Goodwood and Global Revival has an unfortunate draw out in stall sixteen. He ran on well when winning at Leicester but he will need a lot of luck in running here in what looks a very good Nursery, the favourite was impressive in his last two starts.

The Goodwood Cup looks very interesting today and Big Orange is the rightful favourite having shown his class at Newmarket’s July meeting. Quest For More was second to him last year and will surely go well back on this faster ground. Sheikhzayedroad has some class and he could run a big race if everything falls into place.
