Yes Can Do

Good Morning from Newmarket. Storm Ali has taken its toll across the country to wreak havoc in many places. We were fortunate and escaped the carnage inflicted on many other areas. My staff as usual have been working hard keeping the horses calm and content until the strong winds have passed.

While neither troubled the judge, there were positive elements to both our runners from yesterday. Global Myth showed a little more in what looked a very hot race at Yarmouth, and Vision Clear redeemed his reputation somewhat with a staying on fourth at Beverley. Today we run three from La Grange, sending two to Yarmouth and one to Chelmsford.

Yes Can Do makes her second racecourse appearance when tackling the 6-furlong Fillies' Novice Stakes at Yarmouth at 2.50. She made her debut at Newmarket in early August, and on good to soft ground ran better than her finishing position would suggest. She raced prominently and only tired in the final furlong. The form of this race has so far been mixed, with the winner going on to carry a penalty and win another Novice at Ascot, while the placed horses have since been beaten. While today’s race looks brim-full of promising types, I am hoping she can show improvement from her first run.

Also at Yarmouth, we run Manjaam in the one mile 6 furlong handicap at 3.25. He ran well at Ascot over two miles last time, and after racing a little keenly, we decided to try dropping him back a little in trip once more. With his handicap mark he is always going to be competing in competitive races, and today is no exception. The ground and track should be in his favour, and while he faces some progressive-looking rivals, I hope he can make a decent showing.

Finally, we take Creek Harbour to Chelmsford for his debut in the one-mile Novice race at 7.45. he has been slow to come to hand and will need the experience, but I feel is now ready to start his racing career. It is a starting point for him and will guide towards his future career.

All the best,

Ed
