Seaside double on Thursday

Fri 05 August 2011

"Oh we do like to be beside the seaside" - whether Ed was actually reciting that legendary English music hall song as he ate his supper on Thursday night is debatable, but the boss had good reason to be glad that he sent a horsebox to both Brighton and Yarmouth as ROMEO MONTAGUE and MINA'S BOY provided us with a double celebration.

The sea-fret spoilt the holidaymakers view of the feature Brighton Challenge Cup, but, while Romeo Montague was at the rear when the runners disappeared into the mist, when they emerged in the final furlong he was in front, and Chris Catlin is to be congratulated on using an extra serving of kidology to get the consistent but luckless 'Romeo' back in the number one spot.

At Yarmouth, Royston Fffrench knew that Mina's Boy had the stamina to win the 14-furlong handicap as he had scored over two miles at Beverley in his previous race, and the pair forced their way to the front in the final 200 yards to land the finale in game fashion.
