Red Verdon: holds solid claims at Wolverhampton this evening.

Overcast and particularly breezy this morning.

Just a brief update as we head into the weekend. Red Verdon makes his second start in the extended mile maiden at Wolverhampton and he surprised us all by how well he ran on debut, only going down by a nose over course and distance. He seems to have improved for that performance and is well drawn in what looks a winnable race.

Obviously newcomer Towns History warrants plenty of respect, and Godolphin have been mopping up these contests in the last few weeks, but our horse has experience on his side and he achieved a useful level of form first time out. We are hopeful of a bold show.

Harlestone Hopes, Timia, Zauffaly and Global Avenger all hold entries next week as we start to pick up on the runners front. I’ll keep you updated with plans for that quartet.

Finally, congratulations to one of our apprentices, Harry Burns, who rode a fine race to win on the David Evans-trained Air Of York at Wolverhampton yesterday evening. Things got a bit crowded on the home turn, but Harry was level-headed as usual, and he took full advantage when the split came in the straight. That was Harry’s fifth career success and he is certainly heading the right way.

Have an excellent weekend.

Ed.
