Good morning. Another day with just a single runner, this time it is Shawaaheq in the 6.15 at Wolverhampton.

A son of Tamayuz, he took a while to come to hand, but it was nonetheless disappointing to see him beaten so far on his Kempton debut in early November. I trained the dam, who won at two, and his year older half-brother, who was short headed on two-year-old debut. Shawaaheq could not do similarly, racing towards the rear throughout and making only minimal progress up the home straight, ultimately beaten over 16 lengths. The form remains relatively untested, so it is hard to gauge even if it was a decent race.

However, any horse can be excused a poor one on debut, and I would like to think he can show a little more thrust this evening. The market is dominated by solid form propositions and nicely-bred newcomers from the Gosden, Crisford and Hannon stables, so getting in amongst those might be tough. But our horse comes from a family that possesses plenty of ability, and we have seen enough at home to suggest he can make a racehorse in time. Hopefully we will see some evidence of that out on track today. Martin Harley is in the saddle.

All the best,
