Mulzim

It was an overcast morning here at HQ and after a small amount of rain fell overnight the ground is good/good to firm in places at The Rowley Mile. It was a fantastic day of racing up there yesterday with Mrs Danvers continuing her progression when breaking the two year old five furlong track record and Rhododendron impressing when she won the Fillies’ Mile with authority. The unexposed fillies disappointed in the Fillies’ Mile and it will be interesting to see how the three colts with two to three runs to their name fare against the five time raced Churchill who is a warm favourite for the Dewhurst.

Manjaam ran in the Old Rowley Cup yesterday and his three month absence told in the closing stages of the race. He may not have handled the track but he got tired and Frankie looked after him, he still rates an exciting prospect at four.

We run four horses today up at York and Newcastle. Oasis Fantasy runs in the 1m2f handicap at 14:35 and heads here on the back of a solid run in the Cambridgeshire. We are using Adam McNamara to take some weight off his back as he has the burden of 9:12 to contend with. The favourite is very consistent and Central Square put in a career best in first time blinkers last time when beating the progressive Poet’s Word. It looks a good race but if he runs up to his best he has small each way claims. Tibr has it all to do on the ratings in the Listed Rockingham at 3:10 but there are very few options for him and he deserves to take his chance after winning with authority in a Catterick Novice. We run Mulzim in the 7f Maiden at 4:20 and he is an uncomplicated horse that shows me ability at home. My horses always improve with a race under their belts but I hope he can run respectably.

Crystal Dome runs in the 6:45 at Newcastle and I was impressed with his win last time given that he was still very green. The fourth has since come out and won and the third has run well so I hope the handicapper is right as he raised our horse eight pounds for a neck victory. Rashford’s Double has only had three runs and could be well handicapped whilst Highland Lotus won last time and Ladofash like Rashford’s Double is unexposed.
