Global Acclamation

Good morning from Newmarket. An exciting day of racing is in store up and down the country but it will be a quiet one for La Grange, with just a single runner at Wolverhampton this evening to keep us occupied.

The horse in question is Global Acclamation, who takes his chance in the 0-55 handicap at 8.30 over an extended mile. He was the winner of a six-furlong handicap at Chelmsford earlier in the year, but we have gradually stepped him up in trip since. On his latest appearance at Yarmouth his rider Silvestre de Sousa reported that he was just feeling the quick ground, so it could be that going back on the AW – which he did so well on earlier in the year – is a plus.

We continue with cheek-pieces this evening, though there is just the slight lingering concern that the positive effects of the headgear have been wearing off. It was a similar case with blinker earlier in the year; in that they worked for a while then he seemed to get bored of them! So we might be looking for a headgear switch again soon, but this is undoubtedly a good opportunity for the horse. He is in at 0-55 level, which is what he needs, he has previous course form, and we have the assistance of leading jockey Tom Marquand from a handy draw. The trip is the furthest he has been so far, but recent racecourse evidence indicates it is what he needs. Fingers crossed for a good run.

All the best,
Ed.
