Manjaam

It looks like there have been some thunder storms overnight in parts of the country and Haydock may get some much needed rain today but it is bright and sunny still here at HQ. There is some fantastic racing today and although only five rivals take on Churchill in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, amongst them is the unbeaten Irishcorrespondent. The first race on the card sees his full-sister taking on a half-sister to Winter!! Over here in the UK we have a feast and there are a pair of Group 2s at Haydock with the Temple Stakes looking particularly open. There are also a trio of Listed races at Goodwood and York and an abundance of competitive and potentially informative handicaps with Royal Ascot just around the corner.

Qaaraat was a little disappointing when finishing third in the Novice event at Bath yesterday. The winner was well backed and looks a nice prospect and Last Page had some solid form in the form book so he was not disgraced but I would have liked him to have found more off of the bridle.

Manjaam is our only runner in the 1m6f handicap at Goodwood today run at 4:20. He was thoroughly progressive last year and he ran well on his seasonal debut when second at Lingfield. He has a good draw today and I think the 1m6f trip will be within his compass, Luke Morris knows him very well. We could have done without the 3mm of overnight rain as his best form is on fast ground but it should still be on the top side of good which will not hinder him and I expect it to be beautiful ground. Top Tug ran well last time in a competitive Newmarket handicap and Blakeney Point was very progressive until disappointing in The Chester Cup. Batts Rock is lightly raced and with only 8:2 on his back he will be a danger to all from a good draw in stall three.
