Vision Clear

After a day without runners yesterday, today we return to action with representatives at York and Salisbury. With rain returning to parts of the country over the last few days we have been carefully monitoring the various ground reports from the tracks and hoping for suitable conditions. It appears the rain has stayed away from York, and this may help our cause with Manjaam. Mr Jaber’s 5yr old gelding has been a regular campaigner in good quality handicaps for us, and today’s race looks to be another decent contest. After two good recent runs at Wolverhampton and Ascot, today I step Manjaaam back up to 13f in the ‘Brittains Beverages Extraordinary Spirits Handicap’ (2.35). The forecast good ground should suit, and while drawn a little wide in stall 10, there should be time to get a decent position from the 13f start. He is in good form at home, and while he faces some unexposed runners as well as some seasoned handicappers, it looks as if conditions will be in his favour. On his best performances he would have a decent EW chance.

Our other runner from La Grange today is Vision Clear who goes to Salisbury for the 10f ‘Comec 25th Anniversary Classified Stakes’ (8.20). After three runs in maiden and novice company as a 2yr old, we took the decision to geld him and give him some time to mature. He appears to have benefitted from the time off, and I have been pleased with his progress. Today is a slight step into the unknown as we extend Vision Clear beyond a mile for the first time, but I am hoping this will be of benefit. There are strong influences for stamina from both sides of the pedigree, and while he looks as if he will enjoy the middle-distance trip, it is still to be proven. It is a big-field novice with plenty of unexposed types. The forecast good to soft ground should suit, and while he will be entitled to need his first run since September, I feel he has progressed for the break and we will learn more from his performance today.

All the best,

Ed.
