Oasis Fantasy

A dry and breezy morning here at HQ and there could be a slight headwind up at The Rowley Mile later on, with the ground likely to be drying out all the time. We worked some horses on The Golden Mile this morning and the ground was beautiful as you would expect.

We ran two youngsters at Newmarket yesterday and they both ran very well. Ode To Paris was keen during the early part of the first division of the 7f Maiden and this told when he came to deliver his challenge but he ran well in sixth. They went slow in the early stages of the race which did not help him and when he settles he looks like he will be a nice horse. Mudalell ran extremely well in the second division when second and he split two horses who had experience and had shown a decent level of form. The first three were a good way clear of the rest and the way he saw his race out bodes well for the future.

Dark Red and Oasis Fantasy both run in The Cambridgeshire later, Oasis Fantasy has not had his ground the last twice and the going will be much more suitable for him today but he does seem to be handicapped to the hilt. Dark Red ran well at York on good ground but if the ground is very fast he may not run, if he returned to that form he would have a chance of being in contention in what is obviously a very competitive thirty one runner race.

The Lacemaker runs in the 7f Fillies’ Maiden at the start of the card and she is a filly I like who has shown promise in both of her starts, there are a lot of well-bred types that are unraced and it is likely to be an informative contest. Vivre Pour Vivre steps up in trip to 1m6f in the last race at Haydock, the favourite has very solid credentials having run Scarlet Dragon very close on only his second start but I hope he can run well. We hope to find out whether he stays this new trip but like Dark Red, if the ground gets very fast then he won’t run.
