Global Giant

What a fantastic Commonwealth Cup we were treated to yesterday. Two very good horses and one exceptional one fought out the finish and the older Sprinters will have some stiff competition shortly. We worked some horses on the Water Gallop and the Al Bahathri today and I hope to introduce some more two year olds shortly.

Our two runners were both disappointing yesterday. Armum was too free early and Manjaam broke slowly and could never get involved once the pace quickened given how slowly the Duke Of Edinburgh was run in the first part of the race.

We have three runners today. Global Giant is our first runner in the 2:10 at Newmarket. He is a nice Shamardal colt, he will improve for his first run but he has done everything we have asked of him at home nicely. The Hannon horse shaped well on debut and with the benefit of a run he looks to be the horse we all have to beat. The Johnston and Gosden newcomers could both be talented but I hope he runs well. Zamjar runs in the 6f sprint at 5:20. We believe the drop back to 6f will suit him much better than the 7f at Epsom and it’s a drop back in grade. We are taking on the older horses for the first time but I hope he can run well with a first time visor deployed. Goodwood Crusader has been a revelation lately, as has Meshardal and Spanish City is very unexposed.

Munaashid runs this evening at Lingfield in the 7:50. We are dropping him in grade and also in trip as Josie thought the 10f trip stretched him last time. Medburn Dream has been well found and he is the horse we all have to beat on his solid Goodwood run. Whilst no horse in the field won last time, plenty placed and it is a competitive little race which we have a little chance in if the drop back in trip works off a potentially nice handicap mark.
