Alqubbah

It has been a cold and slightly overcast day here in Newmarket but the morning was brightened up by Winx winning the Cox Plate. This was her most authoritative display yet and connections excitingly left the door open for a visit to Royal Ascot next season. She is vying for the crown of the best racehorse in the world and is undoubtedly a Superstar.

Makman was second at Wolverhampton last night and it was an improved effort on his recent showings, he travelled well and saw his race out. Earlier in the afternoon AlEmeratalyoum ran respectably in sixth and showed us promise for the future. Weloof was disappointing in the mile Maiden but this was not his true running and we will put a line through it and look forward to next year with him.

We run two fillies today and Alqubbah is our first runner in the 5:05 at Newbury. She has only run over 7f once and was denied a clear run at Goodwood, she has been shaping as though this step up in trip will suit and so I hope it can see her improve. Aflame has been improving at a rate of knots and is the one we all have to beat but I hope our filly can be there or thereabouts. Blushes runs later on at Chelmsford in the 7:40 and we have put the blinkers back on this evening. It is a very open race and she would have a small chance if she can reproduce the form of her penultimate run.
