Excitement is building around Newmarket in anticipation of The Henry Cecil Open Day which is happening tomorrow. Our yard will be open along with 22 others around the town and we are hoping for lots of visitors. We have many activities in the yard to keep everyone entertained, there will be farrier and water treadmill demonstrations throughout the morning and Debby has been busy baking to produce some delicious home-baked cakes to entice you to the coffee and tea stall. Our Tombola has some wonderful prizes that have been donated by our very generous suppliers, so hopefully you are feeling lucky!

There will be plenty of action at The Severals in the afternoon, commencing with The Martin Collins Pony Club Games. Teams from Hugo Palmer, David Simcock, Charlie Fellowes and Charlie Appleby will be fiercely competing each with a jockey in their teams, this should be fun to watch. This will be followed swiftly by the Jockeys and Trainers Show jumping, which is always the highlight of the afternoon and there are plenty of stars competing including Ryan Moore, Francesca Cumani and Oisin Murphy.

More fun for the afternoon will include a dog show, Terrier racing, and a mini major show jumping competition with a relay between the jockeys and their children! I really recommend you come to join in the fun!

Back to today! We have two runners, Gottardo at Chelmsford who is competing over 6f and will be ridden by James Doyle. You can ignore his last run as he was very keen in the blinkers and therefore ran his race too early. He has a good draw today and hopefully will be able to sit behind the leaders and finish his race better.   Our second runner is Global Art who is running in the Amateur Riders Cambridgeshire at Newmarket and will be ridden by our resident amateur, Sophie Smith. Mr Turner who owns Global Art will be having his first runner at Newmarket and is delighted to be giving Sophie her first experience of The Rowley Mile racecourse. Global Art ran well at Windsor last time out and although this is a more competitive race, we hope he will run well and give Sophie a good first ride at Headquarters!

Further from home, Amazing Red runs tomorrow at Bro Park in Sweden in the Stockholm Cup International (Group 3) he has travelled well and let’s hope he can win another International race after his fine win in Spain.
