Global Wonder

More blue skies here in Newmarket but it is another chilly morning. We have some fantastic Jump racing from Cheltenham to warm us up and there are two fast track qualifiers at Lingfield that look very interesting.

Global Spirit was a fraction slowly away and up in grade he looked like he needs to step up in trip going forward. He made a little late headway to finish in mid division.

We run three horses today. Dubai Frame and Highcastle are both late maturing types who I hope will benefit from a Winter on their backs and they contest the two divisions of the mile Novice at Lingfield . Dubai Frame showed a little more last time when finishing fifth at Nottingham and I hope he will continue to improve but realistically he is up against it here and would have to find a fair amount of improvement to be involved in the finish. Highcastle has been gelded since he last ran but he looks to be a horse that needs to enter handicap company to be competitive.

Global Wonder runs in the 6:15 at Wolverhampton. He has been disappointing since showing some promise on debut at Yarmouth. He hasn’t helped himself by being too keen but I don’t think he is devoid of ability. If he can relax better then he has small each way claims but he will have to if he is to stay this new trip. His dam had plenty of stamina and I do think he will improve for this extended mile if he does settle. It looks a very open race with La La Land looking the most likely winner after running well in second last time. Voicemail has a bad draw in 12 to overcome whilst Handsome Bob is interesting on handicap debut.
