It is yet another beautiful morning here although we had a sharp frost overnight and it has only just risen above freezing. There is some very good racing at Meydan this afternoon with some familiar names in action and it promises to be a fantastic Ascot Chase (Grade 1) with Cue Card taking on a host of improving horses, what a story it would be if Waiting Patiently can keep on improving and win for Ruth Jefferson.

King Kevin ran very well yesterday and was beaten by a well supported rival who was right back to his best. Regicide had some useful form to his name in the early part of 2017 and he appears to be a horse who goes best fresh.

Global Angel runs this afternoon at Lingfield in the 4:40. He broke his Maiden last time but the handicapper was punitive and raised him six pounds. He is drawn in stall eleven this afternoon which won’t be easy but it is 12f so we hope he will be able to overcome that. Given the way he shaped last time we hope he can improve for this step up to a mile and a half. It is not a strong race with only three of the field having won before but a lot of the field have not tried 12f before and some are taking drastic steps up in trip so it makes it a hard race to assess. Father Ailbe has been shaping as if he wants further than a mile although he’s not bred to want this trip and Good Impression would be a big danger on the form book but looks hard to win with. It is hard to assess some of our opponents but we have an obvious chance in an open affair.
