Red Cadeaux confirmed for Oz

Sun 25 September 2011

Ed, speaking from Ireland on Sunday, where he has his cheque book primed and poised for action at this week's Fairyhouse Sales, confirmed that RED CADEAUX, such a brave third in the Irish St Leger on his first tilt at Group 1 company, will head Down Under for the Melbourne Cup at Flemington on the first Tuesday in November.

He said:"The owner (Ronnie Arculli) is keen to go and so am I, and, provided everything goes well over the next 72 hours, Red Cadeaux will start his two weeks of quarantine on Thursday. We are all very much looking forward to the trip, and the race should suit the horse."

Ed reported that "no decision has yet been made" about which race SNOW FAIRY runs in next - the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and the Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp are both on the table this week-end, or she could wait for the Champion Stakes at Ascot a fortnight later - and the ground through the week in Paris will be crucial to the decision.

He added:"Obviously, Snow Fairy wants the ground to stay fast, and she will work midweek and we'll take it from there. In contrast, DRAGONERA would need the forecast to be wrong to run at Ascot on Friday. She is an improving filly, but they are talking of 26 degrees later in the week, which would mean that she won't be going anywhere, and if the weather did break she would be more likely to run in the handicap at Ascot rather than the Listed (Noel Murless Stakes)."

"We will leave BURWAAZ in the Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy next Saturday, but we will also have a look at the Cornwallis Stakes at Ascot, and he might even miss both and wait a week for the Middle Park. He has had no luck whatsoever this season and deserves to win a decent prize."
