Wolverhampton runner Cogent.

Mrs D and I are in Majorca so the weather update comes from the Balearic Islands and I am pleased to say the sun is shining.

We are away until Thursday as a post-Royal Ascot break and the last week has been somewhat of a haze. It will be nice to concentrate mainly on golf for the next few days as Nik, my head lad, runs the show at home.

It was pleasing to get a win into Europa yesterday – she was much more streetwise than her debut at Lingfield and a stiff test at the trip suited her well. She shapes like she will stay even further and the handicapper can’t go overboard given it was a poor maiden.

We have on runner this afternoon with Cogent heading to Wolverhampton. This is not a good race and Rouleau will take all the beating following his promising debut fourth. Our horse has shown glimpses of promise in his two starts to date but he’s very much learning his job mentally.

We’ll be having a pretty quiet week on the runners front and we made half a dozen entries for Saturday. Zarwaan was given a couple of options at Newcastle following his Wokingham defection, but obviously we will be keeping a close eye on the ground for him.

The golf course is beckoning so I will leave it short and sweet.

More tomorrow.
