Global Applause

It’s an overcast day here at HQ but it looks like being a dry week and the ground should be on the far side for the Cesarewitch on Saturday. It promises to be a fantastic day of racing with three Group races and two Listed races featuring on the card.

Hazarfan ran well on Saturday in the 1m Novice here as he was very green and stuck to the task well, he is a horse for next year. Sir Gnet was a little disappointing as he got the run of the race in front and failed to last home.

We run three horses today at Salisbury and Windsor. Teenage Gal is our first runner in the 7f fillies’ Novice at 2:35. I would expect her to run much better than on her debut as long as she handles the ground. She was very green on her first start and I hope the run has brought her on. High Seas made her debut in a very strong race at Newcastle and normal improvement would make her hard to beat. River Cafe shaped well on her debut and given she will handle the ground she is another who should run well.

Global Applause runs in the 7f Conditions race at 4:05. There is a question mark with him over this trip in the ground but the race has cut up and we felt it was worth taking a chance. George William boasts the best recent from but he also has to prove himself under these conditions. There is a question mark surrounding the other three opponents too and Black Bess is the only horse out of the five to have won in soft ground. Repton was smart last year but he has regressed recently. I was satisfied with Global Applause’s seasonal debut and if he can build on that then I hope he will run well.

Alemaratalyoum has had a productive year and he takes a step up in class in the 4:45 at Windsor. It looks a very open race and it is hard to discount many of the runners. Whip Nae Nae boasts the most solid recent form and he followed up a solid fourth in a race that has worked out well with a win at Newmarket. Manchego has always been highly regarded and a return to a sounder surface may suit him whilst Breden could have more to offer. Our horses will need a career best to win but if he settles and travels like he did when he won last time then he would have an each way chance.
