Amazing red

Good morning from Newmarket. The turf season really isn’t too far away now, and we will have a fair few runners over the coming days. We kick the week off with Amazing Red in the 6.45 at Wolverhampton.

Amazing Red more than paid his way last term, with a win at Kempton in May and a valuable success on the July course at Newmarket in June. He was fancied for the inaugural running of the JLT Cup at Newbury and the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle, but on neither occasion was he able to show his very best. Niggly little issues kept him sidelined in the weeks and months following those runs, so we eventually drew stumps for the year.

He returns to the track as a six-year-old gelding rated 102, and will be hard to place. We are fully aware of how good Mootasadir is, and our chances of beating him even in peak form would appear remote. However, the terms and timing of this mile and a half 0-105 contest fit in nicely, and it should provide a good opportunity for Amazing Red to get back in the swing of things. There are plenty of races for him in the next month or two, so hopefully we will see something to work with. P J McDonald has won on him previously and will be in the saddle this evening.

All the best,
Ed.
