Qaswarah

With the forecast of thunderstorms and rain on the way, we are all on weather watch again this morning in La Grange. So far it seems we have avoided the worst of it but the threat of storms and rain remains in place until the afternoon. It was a good Saturday for our two runners returning with a win and a second. Manjaam again showed his battling tenacity at York when taking the lead in the last strides to beat Across The Stars in a thrilling finish. Given a great ride by Eddie Greatrex, Mr Jaber’s gelding gave his all to get his head in front at the post. Our other runner, Vision Clear, also ran his heart out at Salisbury. Under Daniel Muscutt, he sat in second for much of the race and after taking the lead yards from the winning post, he was headed in the last stride by Jack Regan. While it is always disappointing to lose out in a tight finish, it was a very pleasing effort from Vision, and I am confident there are better days ahead with him.

Today from La Grange we send Qaswarah to Leicester to compete in the 1m 4f ‘ Vis-A-Vis Symposiums Fillies' Handicap’ (4.05). After receiving a 4lb penalty for her win at Chepstow, she runs today from a mark of 70. While small in numbers, the opposing fillies look to have progressive profiles but I am hopeful Qaswarah can be competitive. She has been working nicely since Chepstow and seems to have come on for the run. She is a well-balanced filly and I feel she will handle the undulations of Leicester without much inconvenience. I hope the ground stays on the good side of soft, as feel this will suit her best and if so, she should give a good account. She steps up to 12f for the first time today and I feel there is still plenty of improvement to come from Qaswarah.

All the best

Ed
