Blushing Red

It has been an overcast morning here at HQ and the rain has just started to fall. The Winter Derby was an intriguing race on Saturday and a gelding operation worked the oracle on Convey. He finished well down the outside to ultimately win slightly cosily, he will have a big chance should he run on All Weather Finals day. Winx stepped up to a mile in the Chipping Norton on Saturday and the Superstar mare won as she pleased as she works towards the Queen Elizabeth in early April over ten furlongs. She has now won fifteen races in a row and it seems hard to envisage that sequence ending anytime soon.

Oud Metha Bridge ran a solid race on Saturday and we unfortunately ran into a potentially above average newcomer. His turn should come along soon and we will see what the handicapper does to him tomorrow before deciding what plans we make for him next.

Blushing Red runs in the 4:55 at Wolverhampton later on today. The son of Le Havre shapes as if he will appreciate the step up in trip to nine and a half furlongs and I hope he can improve on what was a promising debut at the back end of last season. There are two non runners but there are still two in opposition who have shown a higher level of ability at this stage. Atkinson Grimshaw has already tackled ten furlongs and he sets a solid standard, he looked like he was a galloper at Bath and is likely to be prominent. Avantgardist showed promise on his second start at Pontefract and has been gelded since a disappointing run on his latest start. I would like to think our colt can be competitive but whether he can beat the favourite remains to be seen.
