Good morning from Newmarket. It has been a bright but cool morning at La Grange and with the turf season in touching distance, the excitement is building for all in the yard.
Today we head to the polytrack at Lingfield where Baasha takes his chance in the 0-60 ten-furlong Amateur riders handicap at 5.00. This four-year old gelding seems to thrive on this routine and barring one or two blips when races were not run to suit, he has performed with a good degree of consistency. He has performed best when having a good pace to chase and we are hopeful this will be the case today.
Fresh from her excellent victory on Gottardo earlier in the month, Sophie Smith takes the ride. This will be Sophie’s first ride on Baasha at the track and from stall 12 the partnership will need some luck in running. However, with both horse and rider in good form, I am hoping for a good performance.
