It has been a cold and wet morning at HQ today and whilst it will be dry for most of the week, there looks to be more rain coming our way on Wednesday. Yarmouth looks like having the fastest ground although York are also likely to have nice ground later in the week.

The afternoon rain did not arrive at Haydock on Saturday and so we withdrew all of our runners there. Thankfully there looks to be suitable ground for the rest of this week and so I hope all three will be in action soon. Michael’s Mount travelled very well at Lingfield and won comfortably although he did idle in the closing stages. He loves soft ground and now he has got his head in front again I hope we can win another race or two in the second half of the season. Titan did not stay the 1m6f trip on his handicap debut. Capricious Cantor ran a fine race in the Aphrodite Stakes when she battled on to finish fifth. She cut out the running in tough ground conditions and stuck to the task well once she had been headed.

We run Solajan today in the 7:15 at Windsor. He has been too headstrong in his recent races and we have gelded him in the hope this will help him relax mentally. The hood has come off and this is his first try on turf, the soft ground should suit him on pedigree and he appears to handle it at home. If he can relax then it’s not a deep race and he has the ability to be competitive. Outcrop ran with credit in a stronger race last time at Newbury and the winner from that race has won well again since. Fast And Hot is consistent and Evening Hill came back to form in a lower grade last time.
