Good afternoon from La Grange

I am pleased to report that spirits are high around the yard today on what is known as Blue Monday. Despite a cold and frosty morning, the sun broke through surrounding us with blue skies.

Looking back at the weekend I was delighted with the run of Say Nothing. Having been a tad keen early on she travelled well throughout the remainder of the race. She was entitled to get a little tired in the closing stages but we are thrilled she could hang on for third. She has come out of the race well and we will now begin looking for her next start.

Toro Dorado takes his place in the 5.55 at Wolverhampton this evening. I am expecting a good run and although he is probably the horse to beat, Ivan Furtados’s, Hector’s Here looks interesting, whilst Nigel Tinkler’s, Kilbaha Lady is also respected. The slight step up in distance should not be an issue and he is in fantastic form at home.

We are looking forward to Wednesday with Homesick Boy having been declared to run at Lingfield. He is very well in himself at home and hopefully a more strongly run race will be on offer this time around. We have a few other entries for the remainder of the week and I will keep you posted nearer the time.

Elsewhere in racing, I was extremely impressed by Defi Du Seuil’s Clarence House Chase victory on Saturday. He looks to have a very potent turn of foot for a 2 mile chaser, allowing him to put races to bed in a matter of strides. He certainly looks the horse to beat in this year’s Champion Chase at this stage, even with his French name.

Fingers crossed we are celebrating the start of the week with a winner this evening.
