Global Destination

Good afternoon from Newmarket! The dust has now settled on a very exciting weekend, and I am delighted to report that Red Verdon has taken his exertions at York very well.

We are brought back down to earth a little today, as our only runner is at Wolverhampton in a seven-furlong 0-75 handicap, but it will be very exciting nonetheless to see if Global Destination can complete a hat-trick of wins in the 7.40.

This horse has recently changed ownership, but has been with us from day one, and scored decisive victories at Newbury and Brighton last month to elevate his handicap mark from 64 to 73. He will be having his first start this evening for our lovely new owners Paul and Nikki Turner, and it would be very exciting if he can deliver them a first success in their blue and grey silks.

He has been installed market leader on the back of those victories, and as a very good-looking and well-related type of animal, it is hoped that he can continue on the upgrade and has more to offer. The case against him is clearly that he races off this higher mark, the two races he won have not worked out particularly well so far, he has yet to place on the AW from two attempts, and there are one or two very dangerous opponents.

Assimilation looks a threat returned to the AW, Excelled and Red Romance are potential improvers, whilst Self Assessment is probably dropping to a dangerous mark. In fact, you could easily make a case for all our rivals, but with fast ground prevailing all over the country we felt we needed to try our luck back on the AW with this horse. Fingers crossed he can go well once again.

All the best,
