Sir Gnet

It has been a lovely sunny morning here at HQ and after a series of frustrating results for the runners from La Grange over the weekend, it is onwards and upwards for the week ahead. After what seemed like a tour of British racecourses last week, today my runners can keep each other company on the journey with both taking their chances at Wolverhampton.

Hazarfan takes his first step into handicap company in the 1m 4f ‘Follow At The Races On Twitter Handicap’ at 3.25. After being given time to mature, I gave Mr Mohammed Jaber’s Frankel colt two backend runs last October at Newmarket and Redcar. He progressed nicely from his first run at HQ when second to Stephenson’s Rocket over a mile at Redcar. His reappearance at Newbury came in a strong-looking maiden over 1m 3f where he travelled well in mid-division until tiring late on. Again, I feel he has progressed well in the interim and with Silvestre De Sousa taking the mount I am very hopeful he can go close today from a mark of 74.

The Mr Zheng owned Sir Gnet is the other representative from La Grange when he lines up in the 1m 1f ‘Wolverhampton Holiday Inn Handicap’ at 4.30. After showing consistent form in his early handicaps, he disappointed on his latest runs at Wolverhampton in December and Newcastle in March. We took the decision to geld him and hope the ‘unkindest cut of all’ will focus his attentions on the tasks ahead. He has had a nice break since his streamlining and with Silvestre again taking the mount, I am hopeful Sir Gnet will have a decent EW chance today.

All the best

Ed
