Dutch Uncle

There is no sign of any snow this morning but we were covered in a blanket of white here in HQ yesterday. It was very different conditions down in Australia and racing at Randwick was postponed on Saturday and moved to today due to the sweltering conditions in Sydney. The two day delay proved no problem for Winx who equalled Phar Lap’s record of winning fourteen races in a row when taking the 7f Group 2 Apollo Stakes. She is an incredible mare who is extremely versatile and  her winning streak has seen her win over trips between 6 ½ furlongs and 10 furlongs.

We run Dutch Uncle this afternoon at Wolverhampton in the 3:20. He steps back up in trip and drops down in class, both are a positive. The headgear did not appear to make any difference to him last time and so we have left it off this afternoon. He has a decent chance on the form book and seems to be well at home after a short break but he has proved to be very frustrating at times. Spes Nostra was winning off 8lb higher a year ago and has dropped to a dangerous mark of 75, he will be dangerous if he is able to get an easy lead. Final is very consistent and has solid claims coming back from a break. It is nearly seven years since Toga Tiger won off a mark in the eighties but his second last time out is the best piece of recent form.
