Marvelous Monday!

Wed 27 April 2022

Hot on the heels of a brilliant double on Easter Monday, Ed sent out six runners across four cards a week later.

The first to run was Nikki’s Girl at Lingfield. Having won her three-year-old debut back in February, the daughter of Mehmas has had to settle for second and third in her last three outings. However, stepping back up to seven furlongs and returning to an all-weather surface certainly seemed to suit.

Following a bumpy start from stall six, Marco Ghiani settled the bay filly at the back of the pack. Ghiani waited until they turned the final bend for home before pushing Nikki’s Girl to the lead. Proving her stamina saw out the trip, Nikki’s Girl battled on to win on the line.

We then turned to Ayr, where Tadita Twitch was set to make her three-year-old debut. Partnered with Clifford Lee, the pair jumped well from stall three and settled in behind the leaders. Two furlongs from home Lee began to ask for more, and Tadita Twtich responded, progressing into the lead nicely, the bay filly won with ease.

Only a matter of minutes later, Blue Flame was sent down to the start at Lingfield with Marco Ghiani back on board. Fresh from his win at Wolverhampton seven days ago, the grey gelding sprang into action from stall two. Keeping a prominent position throughout, Ghiani cruised around the bend turning for home before pushing Blue Flame to a comfortable victory.

With team spirits high and the boss beaming, we only had one horse left to run for the day. Sterling Knight. The three-year-old son of Camelot was returning to the turf at Windsor. With David Probert in the saddle, the pair jumped and stayed prominent against the rail. Coming into the final furlong Probert pushed Sterling Knight clear of the rest of the field to win by a length.

A massive congratulations to Mr Paul Turner on his first treble, winning owner of Nikki’s Girl, Tadita Twitch and Sterling Knight. And a huge congratulations to the team at La Grange Stables!
