Life After Racing

Mon 19 July 2021

TRIP TO PARIS on parade with his Gold Cup trophy at Naseby Fair last weekend, before giving a dressage demonstration.

With the horses being the beating heart of the operation here at La Grange Stables, we do our utmost to ensure that each individual horse receives the highest level of care. We also endeavour to find wonderful homes for our thoroughbreds once they have retired from the race track.

Those who are unable to retire to stud have gone on to do various disciplines, ranging from showing to eventing, dressage to happy hacking.

Just one example of this is the Champs Elysees gelding, TRIP TO PARIS, who was in training with us from 2013 up until his retirement in 2017. During that time he won six races including the prestigious Group 1 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot in 2015.

TRIP TO PARIS is now in the care of Julie White, who was a part of the La Grange Syndicate when he was racing, therefore Julie has known him since he was a two-year-old.

TRIP TO PARIS is now being retrained to compete with British Dressage in the Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) classes. He is ridden by local dressage rider, Sarah Kempson, and the pair have additional coaching with Grand Prix trainer, Angel Easwood.

TRIP TO PARIS knows he is a star and still enjoys being centre of attention. He is truly loved by everyone involved with his new life and he will be kept and cared for by Julie for the rest of his life.
