Last round-up at Doncaster

Thu 03 November 2011

We might not (yet) have won a Group 1 race this year but Ed has placed the horses very well and 52 winners so far on the domestic scene is our best numerically for several seasons and with SNOW FAIRY, who has safely arrived in Japan for the defence of her QE11 Commemorative Cup crown on Sunday week, having already netted more than £718,000 in place prize money this season and RED CADEAUX having banked us £588,235 for his brilliant nose second in Tuesday's Melbourne Cup, there is justifiably a sense of satisfaction around La Grange stables as we prepare to bring the curtain down at Doncaster on Saturday.

Our final two runners on the turf in Britain this year both come in the Listed Fillies race on Town Moor, SATWA PEARL (Paul Hanagan) and MUSHARAKAAT (Philip Makin) and the boss said: "It would be nice to think we might pick up some black type. Musharakaat is the three-year-old and rated 7lb superior to Satwa Pearl but the older filly seemed to handle the rain-softened ground well enough when winning at Ffos Las and might cope with the conditions better than Musharakaat, who would have preferred a drier surface."
