Dutch Uncle on Wednesday

A glorious morning here at HQ this morning. With Doncaster only a week away the warmer weather is very welcome indeed. I did some gentle work with some of the two year olds this morning and I am happy with how they are progressing. We ran two at Wolverhampton yesterday evening, Flinty Fell was slightly disappointing having travelled well through her race and Gabrielle appeared to tire late on but showed us some promise.

I mentioned on Monday how sad it was that Peter Moody was retiring and it was very fitting that he signed off with a Group One winner yesterday when Flamberge held on in the tightest of finishes to win the Group 1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley.

We have some smart action today on the all weather. Sadly I do not have any runners until tomorrow but both the Lingfield and the Wolverhampton cards look intriguing. We may make as many as four entries for Chelmsford next Thursday and we also entered three yesterday in races to be run at Lingfield and Kempton so it looks like the middle of next week will be busy.

Everyone at La Grange is heading to the George and Dragon this evening for some bites and an Easter drink. We are also having an Easter Egg hunt before evening stables so hopefully the sun will continue to shine and everyone will have some fun. The prize giving for the Cheltenham competition that was held last week will take place later too, having made most of the running I finished second beaten a short head. Joey Brown had three winners on the final day and is taking home the first prize. The last placed finisher got a bespoke wooden spoon which was very creatively decorated by Debbie. Have a fantastic Easter.
