I hear that it has been a damp and miserable day back in Newmarket. The team put a few horses through the stalls this morning as we continue to prepare for the start of the flat season. Two entries were made for the fillies’ maiden at Wolverhampton next Thursday; Flinty Fell who was third at Lingfield on her debut and Gabrielle, an unraced daughter of Paco Boy.

We had a fantastic day out at Cheltenham yesterday seeing many familiar faces  and attended a wonderful lunch hosted by Lady Bamford who has a share in Girl With A Pearl. I managed to maintain my lead at the top of the internal tipping competition and I hope to stay there by close of play tonight. Thistlecrack and Vautour were both very exciting to watch and were the two highlights of an exciting day’s racing. Today we are having lunch with Mark Little who has a share in Gabrielle. The Gold Cup looks very open and it should be a fantastic Friday afternoon’s racing, they will go very fast in the Foxhunter and I wish Victoria Pendleton a safe passage. Completing safely must be the first aim and if she does that then it will be a brilliant achievement in itself.
