God Willing delighted all connections when making a winning debut in The Don Deadman Memorial EBF Maiden Stakes at Newbury racecourse this afternoon.
The son of Arch broke well from the gates and travelled quite keenly to sit in fourth place. As the race unfolded down the centre of the seven furlong straight, Harry Bentley asked God Willing for his effort inside the final furlong and showed a professional attitude to lengthen, winning with a certain amount in hand.

After running with encouragement on his debut at Doncaster thirteen days ago, Jeeraan the Sheikh Hamdan owned son of Distorted Humor, gave the team at La Grange an across the card doublewhen winning The parklandsgolf.co.uk Maiden Stakes at Newcastle over one mile and two furlongs.
Having improved from this run at Doncaster, Jeeraan was held up early on and gradually moved through the field at the two furlong pole to lead from a furlong out. He stayed on strongly winning by two and a half lengths from the Brian Ellison trained Llanarman Lad.
Winning jockey Philip Makin commented, "He´s a nice, big horse and he´ll hopefully improve a lot from that."
