Ripper Street

We went to the Polo last night at Cowdray Park to watch an Exhibition match between a Lord March Goodwood Estate team and the Cowdray Estate team, a match that began in the 1930's and the standard was very high. It was a fun evening and was something different, it’s a very difficult thing to be able to control a horse with expert skill whilst also having the co-ordination to hit a ball at the same time and it is fantastic to watch the good players in action. The horses had an easy morning today at home and I am told it is overcast and murky but there has been no rain at HQ. We are having lunch with an owner of ours Mrs Gaynor Rupert whose company L'Ormarins are sponsoring the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes at 4:55 and then heading back to Newmarket for racing there.

Global Revival ran ok in mid division from his difficult draw yesterday at Goodwood, he did not find as much as he had at Leicester but the ground was too lively for him despite the earlier rain. The times indicated that beneath the surface the ground was still on the firm side of good.

Zamjar is a non-runner at Goodwood and so we only have the one runner at Newmarket tonight. Ripper Street runs in a small field 6f Maiden at 6:25 and he looks to have it to do with the two main principals if they show their best form. He is still learning and showed some promise last time so I hope he can build on that here and run a pleasing race for the future.

Big Orange was very impressive when winning The Goodwood Cup yesterday and he seems to be an improved horse this season, he had every chance to fold when his opponents came to him but he toughed it out and found plenty to win comfortably. It will be very interesting to see if his connections do go back to Australia for the big one in November.
