Marwa

It has been extremely cold here in Newmarket and the temperature gauge barely got above freezing throughout yesterday. Representatives of the Japan Racing Association came in yesterday evening to look around La Grange and cement plans ahead of the visit of five Japanese jockeys in the summer. There was some good racing in Meydan yesterday and Godolphin dominated the card with five winners. Very Special enjoyed a fruitful Carnival last year and the Falmouth second saw her race out well to beat some decent fillies in the Cape Verdi.

Magdalene Fox ran another solid race when third at Newcastle on Wednesday. He was stepping up in grade and the winner looks an improving type, he got tired late on after matching strides with the winner for the majority of the race. He is heading to the sales next week and would be a horse who would give someone a lot of fun. Ode To Paris was once more too keen in the early stages of his race but he still threatened to get involved and then disappointingly failed to see out his race.

Arnarson is our only runner over the weekend and he looks to have solid claims in the Lingfield 7f Maiden at 1:50 on Saturday. He improved from his first to second start and his latest second has been well advertised since. He has been drawn in stall eight but his main danger has been drawn one stall outside of him and if he can run to the same level of his second start then he will be hard to beat.

We have two runners at Lingfield this afternoon. Marwa has shown gradual improvement with every start and the form of her last race is working out well. She has shaped as if this extra furlong will help her and she is starting out in handicap company off of a realistic mark. The favourite has been improving from a low level and the form of her last win has been franked, she has been drawn in stall eight but she has solid claims. No Not Again has seen his third franked and he holds Wily Rumpus on their last meeting. Oberyn’s win has taken a knock but Killermont Street’s mark is falling and if she can rediscover her form back up in trip she would have claims.

Booshbash is stepping back up in trip to ten furlongs this afternoon but it looks an above average race for the grade. We hope she can improve for the extra distance but Ocean Drive is very well related and is highly likely to improve on her winning debut whilst Emenem only went up two pounds for winning a competitive extended Mile handicap at Wolverhampton and they look like the two to beat.
