Oceanus

Today is our last day in South Africa as we sadly head home tonight. I have heard it was extremely cold in HQ this morning but I am looking forward to getting back to La Grange. We are nearly full now and there are some exciting horses to look forward to as we edge slowly towards the start of the turf season.

Magdalene Fox ran a bold race from the front at Wolverhampton on Monday and he was worn down by a horse that had dropped to a workable mark. This was a solid run from the son of Foxwedge and I am sure the handicapper will move him up to a rating in the mid- sixties when he is reassessed. Booshbash was fourth in a race where the first and second were well backed and she also ran well for a long way. She was not beaten too far and will win again in the right race.

We have one runner today at Lingfield. Oceanus has been bitterly disappointing on his last three starts and as a consequence he is dropping down to a 0-65 for the first time. He has a favourable draw in stall one and we have done our very best to sweeten him up at home, so we hope he will run better today but it is hope rather than expectation. Geraldine remains on a favourable mark and has been well supported  whilst Lord Cooper’s latest win has been franked by the horses behind him. Bruny Island disappointed under a penalty but may do better after a short break.
