Venedegar

Good morning from Newmarket. After a quiet few days runner-wise courtesy of the chafer grub, we return to the track today with Venedegar in the 3.25 at Sandown. He has shown progress in each of his three runs to date, and I have every hope this upward trajectory will continue this afternoon. He runs today in a Novice over a mile.  It looks to be a field of untapped potential with the majority of the runners on their second outing, and a few well-bred debutantes complete the field. Venedegar is the most experienced in the line-up, and after his third run at HQ he received a BHA mark of 83. While the form of the Newmarket run could be working out better, his run beforehand over 7f at Sandown has a solid look to it, and I am hopeful the extra furlong today will be of benefit. Gerald Mosse takes the mount, and he will have to use his skill to overcome a wide draw from stall 9. With so  many of the field likely to improve significantly for their debuts, it is hard to be confident, but I am hopeful he can show further progress, and if doing so he should have every chance of being involved at the business end.

All the best,

Ed.
