Gabrielle

It is the last day of the Yearling sales here in Newmarket and it has been a very busy and productive two weeks. I am delighted that the top lot from Book 3 will be joining us here at La Grange, he is a good looking son of Kodiac out of a Teofilo mare. We have Yearlings from a variety of Stallions coming to La Grange and I am looking forward to exciting times ahead.

We had four runners at Chelmsford last night and whilst we did not have any winners, there was plenty of encouragement to be taken from how they ran. Zamjar showed plenty of pace from his wide draw but his early exertions told in the closing stages and he eventually finished fifth. He was returning from a layoff and I hope he can build on this next time. Oud Metha Bridge ran a very encouraging race in the 7f Maiden, he was doing all his best work late and finished a never nearer third. Magdalene Fox faded in the closing stages but he showed plenty of encouragement for the future. Wealth Tax just failed to close down the all the way winner in the concluding 7f Maiden at 9:20 but he once more showed us he has ability and he will improve when he steps back up to a mile.

Sparkle is the first of our three runners today in the six furlong Maiden at Haydock. She showed plenty of promise on debut before disappointing last time at Newmarket. I am hoping that a short break since will have done her good and that she can show us some encouragement for the future this afternoon. On the form book the Dascombe horse is the filly they all have to beat as the horse that beat her last time out has since gone on to win a Listed race in Ireland.

Oceanus has been running some solid races in defeat and he would look to have an each way chance in the 4:55 at Haydock. We would have ideally wanted a little more rain but he should be ok on good ground and I hope he runs well in what is an open affair. Gabrielle is our last runner at 5:05 up at Redcar and the rain that has fallen overnight is exactly what we wanted. She ran a solid race in defeat at Yarmouth when she was last seen and I’m hoping that 6f on an easy surface will be her optimum. Gabrielle deserves to be favourite on the official ratings and if she can run close to her mark she should win.
