Good morning from Newmarket. Another quiet day for us, as we send just the once raced three-year-old Inspirational to Nottingham for the mile fillies’ maiden at 7.20.

A daughter of second-season sire Slade Power, Inspirational is a sibling of a pair of stakes-placed sprinters, but she has shown us at home that she needs a little more of a trip at this stage. As such, she made her debut over a mile in a warm renewal of the Wood Ditton, and showed up well in the first half of the race before getting lost in the dip.

She clearly needs to step forward an awful lot from that performance to be competitive today, and it is surely asking too much for her to trouble the likes of hot favourite Twist ‘N’ Shake. However, she continues to improve physically and her debut effort was probably fractionally more promising than her finishing position indicates. We are compromised by a difficult draw but hopefully Inspirational can show some improvement nonetheless. Dan Muscutt rode her on debut and maintains the partnership this evening.
