It has been a good week so far at La Grange with Red Secret starting it with a bang by winning very impressively at Kempton under the hands of Jim Crowley.
We also sent two horse’s to Ascot with Alternative Fact running a very creditable third in the Silver Hunt Cup under Frankie Dettori. The stiff mile at Ascot seemed to really suit him and if it hadn’t been for the ground being a touch on the quick side of good he may well have been bang there. If we couldn’t win, I was delighted to see my old assistant trainer William Knight score his first Royal Ascot success with Sir Busker in the race.
Mr Arculli’s Amazing Red also made the trip to Ascot for the Copper Horse Handicap. Have been drawn wide on the 1m 6f start, we had to settle him at the back of the field and he ran a creditable race in what looked like a good field.
We have one runner today in Lyrical who heads to a very wet Newmarket. With 18ml of rain overnight the ground looks to be soft which should suit her after an impressive performance from her last time out on heavy ground here last year. It looks a competitive race with Mark Johnston’s Trinity Girl the likely favourite. I expect her to run a nice race.
Later in the week we have a number of runners including all-weather star Toro Dorado and last time out winner Red Secret.
Look out for my next update and have a nice day.
All the best,
Ed
