Quick Fire Double

Tue 07 June 2022

On Monday Ed sent out two winners across two cards. The first success came in the last race at Windsor, where BY YOUR SIDE made his turf debut.

With the going changing to soft, and partnered by Rob Hornby, the bay gelding sprung from stall two. The pair sat prominent throughout the race, until they took the lead two furlongs from home. Hornby then pushed the son of Lope De Vega to go clear inside the final furlong, to which he responded with a flash of his tail and came home an easy seven lengths in front of the other runners.

Moments later, our attention turned to Pontefract, where MY SILENT SONG was back at the scene of her maiden win as a two-year-old. She was also reunited with Paul Mulrennan who rode her to victory that day.

Jumping well from stall one, Mulrennan settled the daughter of Postponed in midfield. With a strong pace set by the David O’Meara trained, Autumn Festival, Mulrennan sat patiently approaching the home straight. He then began to push the bay filly to make headway just over a furlong out. She then battled on from there to get the better of Autumn Festival and to win by a neck.

Congratulations to Mr Paul Turner, who owns both winners!
