Arnarson Rules At Chelmsford

Fri 16 February 2018

Arnarson headed to Chelmsford yesterday to contest a six runner 7f 0-85 handicap. He had no luck in running on his last visit to the Essex venue when he found himself trapped behind a wall of horses as the field quickened for home. We hoped that he would suffer no traffic problems on this occasion given the small field.

The field broke evenly and Arnarson was able to get a lovely position tracking the two leaders as they set relatively sedate fractions in front. He continued to travel well throughout the contest and when the favourite Spare Parts kicked for home he made his challenge on the wide outside under an astute tactical move from Harley. Spare Parts kept finding in front but Arnarson was not to be denied and found plenty when Harley applied pressure to win by just over a length.

The son of Exceed And Excel has been in excellent form in 2018 and he has now won twice and run four solid races in succession. He is a horse who has always had ability and it is fantastic to now see him fulfil that on the racecourse. He will have a new mark in the eighties although the handicapper should not be too hard on him as the favourite was running two pounds wrong in the handicap and the third has had plenty of racing and is quite exposed.

We were delighted to see him win again for his owner Mr Gan and given the form he is in currently he should remain competitive when he is seen out again on the all-weather in the near future. The horses all seem to be in excellent form currently and although there are only six currently in full training, they are all in good heart and we hope that they can continue to fly the flag for us over the next month. Well done to all the team.
