TRAINER Ed Dunlop nailed his second winner in three days when EMPRESS LEIZUwas on target at Wolverhampton on December 7.
Dunlop, who also scored with Gifted Apakay last Friday, sent Empress Leizu to the Midlands for an extended mile claimer.
Having her fourth career start, the daughter of Chineur was given a peach of a front-running ride by apprentice Andrea Atzeni.
The Italian popped Empress Leizu out of the stalls and proceeded to set a steady tempo in front. So, when it turned into a sprint from the top turn Atzeni was in the perfect position and found a willing partner in the Mrs Janice Quy-owned filly.
Empress Leizu really knuckled down to the task in hand and kept on well to score by a length and a quarter at odds of 14/1.
On the same day but at Lingfield Dunlop also ran Thundering Home in a 1m and he showed improved form to finish third on what was only his second career start.
